![]() As soon as there is something like a router between client and server, ARP will only reveal the MAC address of the router since this is the target for your ethernet packets. This protocol is designed to get the MAC address to a given IP address. If you are using that same IP address on some other piece of equipment you will not be able to connect to it after using the tool until you edit the ARP table. If server and client are on the same network, you will have to use ARP. The tool associates the selected temporary IP address with the MAC ID in your computer's ARP table. Be careful about your choice of a temporary IP address. You will need to read the MAC ID from the CPU module. If you don't know the IP address you can use the "Set temporary IP address" tool.
